 Mission & Vision

Eugenie Chan Theater Projects develops and produces the plays of Eugenie Chan, a 5th generation San Franciscan whose forefathers sold slippers in Chinatown, dry goods in the desert, and love in the bordellos. Eugenie combines myth, family lore, imagined histories (as well as tales told by fellow Asians), and humor to tell stories that capture the epic sweep of Chinese Americans in the American West.

Our productions offer valuable community identity, entertainment, education, and fresh, often humorous perspectives that ask our audiences to examine their own place as immigrants, transplants, and longtime residents of California. Key projects are accessible to both English and Chinese speakers in welcoming venues at low or no-cost.
